Luang Prabang's monks at dawn, the Mekong at dusk and a pace of life that makes Thailand feel hurried.
Overview
Luang Prabang is the heart of it. A UNESCO town of temples and French villas at the meeting of two rivers, where the monks collect alms every morning and the night market fills the main street. From there, a slow boat up the Mekong, the Kuang Si waterfalls, and the 4,000 Islands in the far south where the river spreads out and the days do too.
Two of our consultants spent far longer in Laos than they planned, one going north, then south, then north again. It combines naturally with Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, and it’s often the part of the trip people wish they’d given more time.
