Why go to Vanuatu

Tanna island’s Mount Yasur is the reason to come. You walk to the crater rim at dusk and watch it throw lava into the air a few hundred metres away. Nothing else in the Pacific comes close. Espiritu Santo has the blue holes, Champagne Beach and the wreck of the SS President Coolidge, one of the world’s great dives.

Efate, with the capital Port Vila, is the easy base. It’s a two-hour flight from Fiji or three from Brisbane, and it’s for people who want the beach with something extraordinary alongside.
